What
A custom full-screen video portfolio for a film director — one continuous slideshow running six films edge-to-edge, no separate offer or landing pages. The reel itself is the site.
Why
A director's work needs to speak immediately — a nav-heavy template or a grid of thumbnails puts distance between the visitor and the films. A single cinematic scroll matches how a reel is meant to be watched, not browsed.
How
Built on a Splide.js slideshow at 100vw × 100vh, with a per-film crop/scale correction to remove baked-in letterboxing from the source footage. A preload strategy streams only the active slide at full quality and resets inactive ones, so six large video files never compete for bandwidth at once.
Captions run in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French, cycled via an on-screen toggle — audio extracted per film, transcribed locally with word-level timestamps, force-aligned for accurate cue timing, then translated and verified line-by-line so no cue got dropped or merged.
